“Surviving the Marriage Mart in Jane Austen’s England”

R-MC kicks off a three-part, interdisciplinary women’s studies series, titled “Survivors.” Invited lecturer Victoire Sanborn will discuss the many ways a girl could go wrong, and what it took to find the right husband in Regency England’s marriage market. Sanborn is the owner and content developer of Jane Austen’s World and Jane Austen, which have attracted more than 3.6 million visitors and were included as resources on the PBS web site for the 2007 Jane Austen Season.

This series is free and open to the public. Series part two will be held on Feb. 23- “Surviving Spain’s Exodus of Men.” Part three will be held on Mar. 29 -“Faith Ringgold: More Than 50 Years”
