Hello Fellow Runners and Potential Runners,
The anticipation of this initial running blog has finally reached a feverish pitch, so we could wait no longer! We've been busy planning and strategizing (as all good runners should) about what we should include in our blogs. As we continue this brainstorming, we thought it would be wise to get out some information about upcoming events. The highlight of the fall (some might say late summer) race season is the inaugural Patrick Henry Half Marathon on August 25th at Poor Farm Park. This promises to become one of the areas premier events, with the organizers anticipating 1000 plus runners. So far registration (www.rrrc.org) is around 500, with over a month to go. Another first time event will be the Tiger Trot 5k being sponsored by the Henry Clay and Gandy PTA's. This event will be held at Henry Clay Elementary on September 15th, and it will include children’s runs. Registration information can be found at HERE. The final event of the Ashland Fall race season is the Harvest Run on October 20th at Carter Park (www.ashlandharvestrun.com). This event offers a 10k run and a 5k walk/run and it is organized by the Ashcake Woman's Club, benefiting the Hanover Safe Place and Ashland Christian Emergency Services. As you can see, the Ashland area offers events in a wide range of race distances. Now get out there and start running!
